OSHA recently announced a 5 month delay for implementation of their new injury and illness reporting rule. The new reporting rule is designed to improve tracking of injuries and illnesses at US workplaces. The rule is somewhat controversial because it gives the public easy access to specific workplace safety records. Companies with poor records risk damaging their reputation, employee recruiting and retention problems, and even losing customers.
The new electronic reporting requirement was originally scheduled to go into effect on July 1st, 2017 but has been delayed until December 1st, 2017.
