Could Your Company Pass an OSHA Inspection Tomorrow? A 60-Second Self-Check

OSHA inspection readiness checklist

OSHA almost never announces an inspection, so the only way to be ready is to check before an inspector does. Answer these honestly:

  • Do you have written safety programs that match your actual equipment and processes?
  • Could you hand an inspector training records for every employee, today?
  • Are your OSHA 300 injury logs complete and posted on time each year?
  • Does every machine that needs it have a written lockout/tagout procedure?
  • Is every chemical on your floor covered by a current safety data sheet and labeled correctly?
  • Are machine guards in place, and would they stay in place on a busy day?
  • Do you know your hazardous waste generator status and stormwater permit obligations?
  • Has anyone done a mock OSHA inspection of your facility in the last 12 months?

If you hesitated on even one, you’re not alone. Most companies we meet have several gaps, and nearly all of them are fixable. A mock OSHA inspection or FACTORY Risk Assessment shows exactly where you stand, ranks what to fix first, and estimates your penalty exposure. Already Cited by OSHA in Dallas or Fort Worth? What to Do Next

If OSHA has already inspected your facility or issued citations, the deadlines start when you receive them, so move quickly.

  1. Post the citation. It has to be posted at or near each cited location for 3 working days or until the hazard is corrected, whichever is longer.
  2. Watch the 15-working-day window. You have 15 working days from receipt to contest citations or penalties. Many employers request an informal conference with the OSHA area director during that time.
  3. Correct and document every hazard by the abatement dates on the citation, and keep the proof.
  4. Fix the system behind the citation. Repeat violations carry much higher penalties, so the program that failed needs to be rebuilt, not just the one item.

We help clients through every step, and many of our longest relationships began right after an inspection. If OSHA is involved now, call 888-784-1405.

“Berg has worked hard to close out our OSHA citations, write manuals, LOTO procedures, hazard assessments, provide detailed reports of physical changes needed to our equipment as well as conducted several required onsite training classes.” Robert Kager, Owner, Kager Industries

Three Ways to Work With Our Safety and EHS Consultants

Service Best for What you get
Mock OSHA Inspection or FACTORY Risk Assessment Companies that want to know where they stand A floor walkthrough, program and records review, prioritized findings, and a penalty exposure estimate
FACTORY-Safe Manufacturers that want an EHS department without hiring one Written programs, training, routine inspections, environmental compliance, hazardous waste, and program tracking in Safety Trac
BUILD-Safe General contractors A written safety program, crew training, job site inspections, and subcontractor safety management

Manufacturing safety consulting with FACTORY-Safe

For manufacturers, FACTORY-Safe turns safety and environmental compliance from a side job into a managed program. We visit, inspect, train, and update your programs on a set schedule, handle TCEQ and EPA requirements, and arrange hazardous waste disposal. You see where everything stands in Safety Trac, our web-based platform, at any time. Virtual service is also available for companies that don’t need regular on-site visits.

Construction safety consulting with BUILD-Safe

Under OSHA’s controlling employer policy, a general contractor can be cited for hazards its subcontractors create. BUILD-Safe gives general contractors the written program, crew training, project inspections, and subcontractor safety system to manage that risk, so superintendents can keep building. Learn more about our construction safety services in Texas.

On-Site OSHA Safety Training for Your Crews

We train your people at your site, on your equipment, so the training sticks. Training is built into every FACTORY-Safe and BUILD-Safe partnership and is also available on its own.

North Texas Regulators and What They Look For

As local OSHA compliance consultants, we keep track of every agency your company answers to, so you don’t have to.

Agency What they cover Local note
OSHA Workplace safety and health: programs, training, guarding, lockout/tagout, recordkeeping Handled by the Dallas or Fort Worth Area Office, depending on your county
TCEQ Hazardous and industrial waste, stormwater, and state air authorizations Region 4 covers Dallas/Fort Worth
EPA RCRA hazardous waste, SPCC plans, Tier II and TRI reporting Region 6 is headquartered in Dallas
Air quality Ozone-related limits and recordkeeping Much of the Metroplex is an ozone nonattainment area, so air rules can be stricter than elsewhere in Texas

Why Clients Stay With Berg

“We initially chose to use Berg for their expertise because we believe it is not cost effective to develop that level of depth internally. We continue to use Berg because Berg is not your typical EHS consulting company.” Daryl Lanaville, Plant Manager, Solaris Oilfield Infrastructure

“They were extremely flexible and didn’t ‘nickel and dime’ us like you may get with bigger firms. I highly recommend them.” Tracy Kriewald, Operations Manager

Dallas Safety Consulting FAQ

Do you work in Fort Worth, Arlington, and the rest of the Metroplex?

Yes. Berg Compliance Solutions serves manufacturers and general contractors throughout the Metroplex, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Plano, Frisco, Denton, and nearby cities.

How do I choose a safety company in Dallas?

Choose a safety company that comes on-site, knows operations like yours, and covers both OSHA and TCEQ/EPA requirements. Ask whether it stays on to manage your program or just hands over a report, and ask how long its clients usually stay.

OSHA is at our facility right now. What should we do?

Stay calm and cooperative. Ask for the inspector’s credentials and the reason for the inspection, have a manager accompany the inspector, and take your own notes and matching photos. Then call Berg at 888-784-1405 so we can help you through the rest of the process.

Which OSHA office handles my company?

OSHA has an area office in Dallas and another in Fort Worth, and which one covers you depends on your county. The standards and the preparation are the same either way.

Does the DFW ozone nonattainment area affect my facility?

It can. Facilities with painting, coating, solvent use, or combustion equipment may face stricter air authorization and recordkeeping requirements in the nonattainment area. An assessment will show whether yours is affected.

Is a safety consultant different from an EHS or HSE consultant?

Slightly. A safety consultant handles OSHA workplace safety, while an EHS or HSE consultant also covers environmental rules from the EPA and TCEQ. Berg provides both, so one partner manages your full compliance picture.

We already have a safety manager. Can you still help?

Yes. We often support in-house safety managers with assessments, written programs, training, and environmental compliance, which is frequently outside their background.

Can you train our employees on-site?

Yes. Berg provides on-site OSHA safety training at your facility or job site, and every session is documented for your records.

What does safety consulting cost?

It depends on your operation and the help you need. We offer a free consultation, one-time assessments, and ongoing partnerships for a fixed monthly fee, and we’ll give you a clear number after a short call.
